Workday Description:
One persistent issue is we have in our watershed is noxious weeds; these are invasive species that “move in” and take over. They take advantage of disturbed areas and out-compete the native vegetation. This impacts the ecosystem as a whole in a negative way.
The Upper South Platte watershed provides for over 75% of Colorado’s municipal, industrial, and agricultural water needs. Project work will include clipping and bagging seed pods of these invasive species and severing roots to prevent future propagation. Please join us to help minimize damage to Colorado’s precious water supply. It is imperative participants wear proper protective clothing, closed-toe shoes, long sleeved shirts, and long pants. (As we will be crossing the river for this project, bringing sandals or river shoes is recommended; please be aware that we still require closed-toe shoes for project work)
Important Notes:
- CUSP will provide hard hats, materials and necessary tools to complete project work
- All vehicles must remain on site for the duration of the project
- A Portable
- A safety review and work demonstration will precede the project work

Medications may have adverse effects in sun, heat or altitude; please list medications and medical conditions on the CUSP release form so staff may be aware of potential concerns. Know your limitations and inform staff immediately if you become ill or injured. Be prepared to exit quickly in the event of an emergency or changing environmental conditions. Please be prepared to hike up to a total of five to seven miles at high elevation in varying weather conditions. Please drink plenty of water prior to and during the project to stay hydrated.
