Sanborn Western Camps & CUSP

Workday: June 20th, 2016

Project Location: Sanborn Western Camps

Difficulty Rating: Easy/Moderate

Project Times: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Meeting Location:  Sanborn Western Camps

Workday Description:
Sanborn Western Camps is a great place for kids to learn a wealth of skills, social & physical. Sanborn Western Camps’ mission is to live together in the outdoors, building a sense of self, sense of community, a sense of the Earth, and a sense of Wonder through fun and adventure. Most of the trails at Sanborn Western Camps are for multiple uses, and are used heavily. Together we will restore trails to make sure they are safe for use. Protecting and maintaining these trails is a great way to continue to protect and give back to the public lands we love. We will be maintaining the trails with pick mattocks, cutter mattocks, Pulaskis and other hand tools.

All work is dependent upon environmental factors – unpredictable weather, runoff and soil movement may alter project and location details.

What to Expect:
This project is located in exposed mountain environments. Medications may have adverse effects in sun, heat or altitude.  Please list medications and medical conditions on the CUSP release form so staff may be aware of potential concerns. Know your limitations and inform staff immediately if you become ill or injured. Be prepared to exit quickly in the event of an emergency or changing environmental conditions. Please drink plenty of water prior to and during the project to avoid dehydration, which occurs rapidly at high elevation and dry climate. Please wear appropriate clothing.

GPS systems and Internet map sites are often misleading in the mountains. Cell phone service will be inconsistent or unavailable.
