Volunteers will help re-seed an area that has been closed for restoration and install signs and kiosks near a popular camping area.  The project will allow vegetation to re-grow and provide crucial winter habitat for large wildlife (elk, bighorn sheep, etc.).

Project work will take place from 9am – 5pm Saturday and 8am – 4pm Sunday.  Camping is available and food will be provided by CMC.   Volunteers may participate one or both days.  Transport/carpooling may be available from Denver/CO Springs.

Registration required at:  http://www.cmc.org/Calendar/EventDetails.aspx?ID=27399

About Badger Flats:  This beautiful area, less than 50 miles from Colorado Springs, has been growing in popularity but an extensive network of user-created routes is destroying native vegetation and fragmenting local wildlife habitat.  CMC is working closely with the Forest Service to mitigate recreational impacts and provide safe, sustainable access for users and the surrounding natural resources.  Join us for a series of stewardship events this summer to prevent further damage to these critical habitat areas.

During 5 weekend trips, volunteer crews will help address wildlife habitat degradation by inventorying and closing non-system roads and trails.  Work is suitable for all abilities and will include GPSing, photographing resource damage, installing signs, constructing natural barriers & fences, re-seeding and transplanting vegetation.
