 Friends of the Forest Day

Hayman Restoration Project

 Volunteers Needed

Saturday, July 28th, 2012

9:00 am to 3:00 pm

This year marks the 10 years since the Hayman Fire, at over 137,000 acres, the largest wildfire in Colorado’s history.  In light of the current fire season, the 2002 fire season seems like a distant memory but problems still continue.  The fire burned severe in areas with erosive soils, resulting in reservoirs compromised with sediment.  Your help is needed to build erosion control structures, plant willows, re-seed native vegetation and/or mulch restoration sites. Efforts will help preserve and protect our water supply, aquatic and wildlife habitats.

July 28th also honors Colorado Cares Day, a statewide day of service.  Volunteers include: Aurora Water, one of CUSP’s longstanding partners; The Girl Scouts of America, celebrating their 100 year anniversary of scouting; and The National Forest Foundation, friends and fundors of the Hayman Restoration, Treasured Landscapes program.

Please Bring:  Sun block * Work gloves * Sun glasses or safety glasses * Long sleeved shirts, long pants * Shoes with good tread * Water containers; water refills are provided * A sack lunch
